Fast response IR heaters

Her_Untitled.pngFour fast response, medium wave infra-red (IR) heating modules from HERAEUS NOBLELIGHT are helping Tarkett to significantly reduce the danger of flooring product manufactured at its Maidstone factory being spoiled or damaged in the event of unanticipated power cut-out or unexpected stoppage of the production line.

Tarkett is a world-leader in flooring, with 12,000 employees and 34 manufacturing sites globally. It provides integrated flooring solutions to architects, facility professionals, contractors, distributors, installers and end users.

To mitigate any danger, Tarkett decided to replace its existing IR heaters with four 22.5kW, fast response IR heaters from Heraeus. These can be switched on and off in a matter of seconds, so there is now no need for the module assembly to be retracted.

The company says the heaters are designed for fitting in infra-red ovens, which are particularly suitable for powder coating and applications ranging from food drying, thermo forming and textiles drying to leather curing and curing coatings on heat-sensitive substrates, such as MDF.

  • Covid protection for Cambridge factory 

    Soluva Air W air disinfection units are helping to provide protection from Covid-19 for employees of HERAEUS NOBLELIGHT at its factory on the Cambridge Science Park. The units have been installed in the company's office and works canteens and, complemented by the observation of social distancing, hand washing and mask wearing, they now make the working environment even safer. The Cambridge facility employs over 100 people manufacturing photonics-based solutions.

  • Advanced CAE technology  

    HERAEUS NOBLELIGHT reports The National Composites Centre (NCC) in Bristol is using its sophisticated Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) technology to optimise the thermal input and control, necessary for selected composite pre-preg lay-up operations. CAE has been extensively employed to determine the precise positioning of infra-red modules during laying up of pre-preg material.

  • Infra-red toasting  

    A purpose-built infra-red heating system from HERAEUS NOBLELIGHT, is being used by Edrington, the premium spirits company, to assist in regenerating casks. This is achieved by replacing the existing ends of refill casks with new toasted ends toasted in the Hereaus Infra-red toaster.
