Machinery safety simplified – free!

Published:  05 August, 2010

Free interactive machinery safety training workshops, which have been specifically developed to make suppliers and users of machinery aware of their legal obligations in relation to machine safety and to provide practical advice on how best to meet those obligations, are now being offered by Laidler Associates, part of the Laidler Group.

The workshops will be of particular interest and value to mechanical and electrical engineers involved in the specification, design, maintenance or modification of machinery; managers responsible for production, maintenance or design of factory equipment; and others whose work involves specifying or purchasing machinery or equipment.

The workshops provide professionals in all of these categories with an excellent opportunity to ensure that their knowledge of machinery safety is accurate, complete and up-to-date, thereby minimising the risk of non-compliance, which could put workers at risk and lead to prosecution.

Held at locations around the UK, the workshops specifically cover requirements relating to CE Marking the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER). Topics discussed during the day include current and forthcoming legislation, EN standards and their implications, risk assessment, and safety control systems. Illustrative and informative case studies are also presented.

In addition to the formal sessions, the workshop programme includes a question-and-answer session where those attending can seek expert advice and guidance on their own specific problems in relation to machinery safety. Ample time is also provided for informal discussion.

Throughout the sessions, a practical approach to CE Marking and PUWER is adopted, with emphasis being given not only to the problems associated with machinery safety, but also to developing reasonable, realistic and cost-effective solutions.

The Laidler Associates Machinery Safety Workshops are one-day events, with refreshments and lunch provided. The next dates and locations are: Solihull, Ramada Hotel, September 14th; Bolton, Ramada Hotel, September 15th ;Newbury, Ramada Hotel, October 19th ; Solihull, Ramada Hotel, October 20th ; Bolton, Ramada Hotel, November 16th ; Solihull, Ramada Hotel, November 17th.
