Mr. Western was visiting Kigass to commemorate the company’s remarkable milestone of 100 years in business. The visit highlighted Kigass’s commitment to nurturing young talent through its apprenticeship programme, ensuring the next generation of engineers is equipped to carry forward the company’s legacy. The firm’s centenary celebrations reflect not just its longevity but also its adaptability and vision for the future enabling it to compete in a global environment.

During his visit, Mr. Western engaged with directors, shopfloor staff, and apprentices, gaining insight into the company’s pedigree in precision engineering and manufacturing.

The MP was captivated by the intricate manufacturing processes and the dedication of the team in maintaining the company’s skills offering and expertise.

One of Warwickshire's best-kept engineering secrets, Kigass says it has played a pivotal role in the UK engineering landscape since it was founded in 1924. Mr Western acknowledged these concerns sharing that skills are very much on his agenda and remarked on the crucial role small businesses play in the economy.

He stated: “Kigass Aero Components’ contribution to British industry over the past century is remarkable. Small businesses like this are vital and play a key role in so many industries up and down the country. We should be very proud of the expertise and excellence Kigass show right at the heart of our towns.

Kigass began its journey in Mayfair, London, founded by Charles Wardman, and quickly gained recognition as a leading manufacturer of top-quality starter motors for diesel vehicles. The company's prestige grew alongside the automotive and aerospace industries, with notable achievements including the aviation contributions during World War II and the groundbreaking work with legendary racing figures.

Today, under the leadership of Directors Peter Platt and Joanne Wardman-Smith, Kigass continues to thrive, serving clients such as Rolls Royce and the Ministry of Defence, with a commitment to engineering excellence and innovation. "Over the past century, Kigass has been at the forefront of engineering in some of the most exacting industries," said Joanne Wardman-Smith. “I am immensely proud of our legacy and our ongoing contributions to British industry.”
