British Safety Council’s Annual Conference will focus on ‘leading health, safety, and wellbeing in a complex world’

With a theme of ‘Leading Health, Safety, and Wellbeing in a Complex World’, British Safety Council will hold its 14th Annual Conference on 15 October 2024.
Paul Nowak, General Secretary of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) will headline the event and consider how to keep people safe, well and happy in a world where political and economic uncertainty has become the new normal.
Chaired by leading Health and Safety Consultant Neal Stone, the full-day event will be held online and is free to attend. The agenda includes sessions with experts in employment, security, law and business, as well as leading experts in health, safety, sustainability and wellbeing.
Highlights include panel discussions on the challenges and opportunities of operating across geographical and political borders in health, safety and wellbeing, as well as how to influence and persuade your leaders and colleagues in a complex and changing workplace.
Other sessions include leading Security Expert Mick Hawkes talking about Martyn’s Law, which receives its Second Reading on 14 October, on what health, safety and wellbeing professionals need to know about their new legal responsibilities for venue security. Chris Green, Partner at Keoghs, will also deliver a health and safety legal update.
Conference delegates will also hear about major new research, undertaken by British Safety Council and Institute of Occupational Medicine on workplace wellbeing, called ‘Being Well in a Changing World’.
