Professional-grade pocket-size thermal imager introduced

Published:  04 October, 2019

The latest thermal imaging device from Fluke, the PTi120, is now available from RS Components (RS). It is Fluke’s first pocket-sized unit and targets troubleshooting and predictive maintenance applications for a wide range of industrial market sectors.

Targeting maintenance engineers especially, the pocket-sized thermal camera can be carried around easily. It enables maintenance teams to carry out enhanced infrared inspections and make quick temperature scans of electrical equipment, machinery, or specific pumps and motors, thereby helping in the effort to minimise equipment downtime.

A key feature of the fully radiometric unit is its 3.5-inch LCD touchscreen, together with its IR fusion ability, which enables the automatic and simultaneous capture of a digital visible-light image along with an infrared image. Users can blend the resulting image from full infrared to full visible light by simply sliding their finger across the screen, enabling the fast location of problem areas. Delivering measurement data right down to the pixel level, the unit offers a 120 x 90-pixel infrared resolution for a total of 10,800 pixels.

In addition, the PTi120 imager is a highly rugged device that comes in an IP54-rated enclosure, enabling it to resist dirt and water ingress, and withstand being dropped from a height of up to 1m. Other key specifications include: field of view of 50°(H) x 38°(V); a temperature measurement range from –20 to +150°C, with an accuracy of +/–2°C; and battery life of more than two hours.
