Search for the best innovators
Published: 18 December, 2007
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has launched a search across the East Midlands for leading innovators in engineering and technology, through a new regional awards scheme.
The East Midlands Innovation in Engineering Awards will form part of the first region-wide innovation Festival (iFestival) which runs between 9 March and 17 May and encompasses an inspiring, inclusive programme of events designed to encourage a culture of innovation across the East Midlands.
Innovation has been identified by the Government as a central pillar for a successful economy and is regarded as a key driver in creating a dynamic, knowledge focused region by East Midlands Development Agency (emda) and Innovation East Midlands (InnEM) who are responsible for driving the iFestival.
In collaboration with emda and InnEM, the IET - which already runs a national Innovation in Engineering Awards - is keen to recognise local talent through the regional scheme, which it is hoped will become the flagship iFestival awards in forthcoming years.
Paul Jackson, director of professional operations at the IET said: "We are delighted to be part of the iFestival through these Awards, which aim to recognise and reward innovative organisations and raise the profile and importance of innovation. I am sure organisations in the East Midlands will rise to the challenge of showing how innovative the region really is.”
The closing date for entries is 5pm on 5 April 2007. Successful
entrants will be invited to an Awards presentation which will take
place at the iFestival Gala Dinner at the Henry Ford College,
Loughborough, on 2 May. For full details of the Awards and to download
