Toyota dealer gets on its bike for the environment

Toyota regional dealer Locators may be more used to dealing with forklift trucks but with the help of the company's Cycle2Work scheme, it"s also getting to grips with the humble bicycle.
Dorset based Locators has introduced the Cycle2Work scheme to help reduce congestion and pollution, as well as a providing a fun way for the staff to get fit. The scheme works by enabling staff to hire a bicycle and safety accessories at a much-reduced cost with the option of buying their bike outright after a year.
Tony Stevens, commercial director at Locators said: "We felt it was a great idea but recognised the cost of the initial purchase of a bike could be a barrier for some so decided to introduce the hire scheme. It’s proving to be a very popular initiative with around 30% of the workforce taking part.”
The newfound love of cycling at Locators has also led to an increase in socialising among the team. As well as using their bikes to commute to work, staff can now be found regularly enjoying bike rides together in their lunch hour or after work.
Tony Stevens added: “The whole community can benefit from schemes such as Cycle2Work. As well as keeping the Locators team fit and healthy, we’re helping to reduce congestion on the roads in our area. The initial hard work in researching the scheme has really been worthwhile.”
