Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) partners with Transport for Wales

Transport for Wales has become the latest member to join the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC).
Transport for Wales (TfW) is the newest member of the Infrastructure Cluster at the MTC, which also includes HS2, Network Rail, National Highways and Transport for London.
Membership will enable Transport for Wales to support the delivery of a comprehensive innovation strategy for the Infrastructure Cluster and the wider Department for Trade family in a collaborative way. This will include identifying and developing technical solutions to improve the efficiency of building and maintaining infrastructure assets, reducing associated greenhouse gas emissions, and improving health and safety standards for the transport sector.
Partnering with the MTC will help TfW with their upcoming plans to expand and enhance public transport across Wales. TfW is currently investing approximately three quarters of a billion pounds in transforming travel in South Wales through the Metro project, and an extra £800m of investment into new trains, with more than half of the trains being assembled in Wales.

The common challenges and aspirations for these partners are actively shaping the MTC’s innovation strategy for the sector which, in turn, will help maximise its impact.”
