The enclosures that protect manufacturing automation systems should have strictly controlled internal environments with interior temperatures that are carefully maintained within a few degrees. If not, the impact can be harmful to the inverter drives, power supplies, contactors, PLCs and other electrical and electronic components operating within them. This requires careful control of the climate within the enclosure.

QUANTITECH says it has supplied large numbers of MCERTS approved FID analysers in the UK for many years and these instruments are employed for the monitoring of TOC gas emissions in regulated processes. However, the company says the Bernath 3006 analyser has been discontinued so it has launched the portable SK Elektronik Thermo-FID PT, which offers improved performance and enjoys MCERTS approval.

RITTAL reports it is expanding its production capabilities and building an advanced production plant for compact enclosures in Haiger, Germany, with completion scheduled for 2018. The company says the total capital expenditure will amount to 250 million euros, making it the largest single investment in the company’s history and state-of-the-art infrastructure and digitisation will underpin highly-efficient production, logistics and communications processes.

MICHELL INSTRUMENTS says its S8000RS has proved itself as a ‘workhorse’ in many calibration laboratories and industrial settings. The company says the S8000 RS Precision Chilled Mirror Hygrometer measures dew points down to -90°C (0.1ppmV) with an accuracy of ±0.1°C, however, unlike many other chilled mirror hygrometers in this class, no additional external cooling equipment is needed to accurately reach these dry dew points.

WATKINS HIRE says that the Watkins Annual Steam Protection Service (WASPS) has been introduced to assist all clients with steam boiler plant located across multiple sites who find themselves subject to shutdowns when annual inspections are required. In many cases a temporary rental boiler is required to cover these shutdowns to avoid downtime in production.

KAMCO has announced two purpose built descaling pumps, the Scalebreaker C90 and C210, designed for descaling commercial and industrial boilers, chillers and plate heat exchangers. Used with the appropriate chemical, the pumps can make it simple for plant and works engineers and contractors to clean equipment with in-house staff at a time most convenient for production schedules.

QUANTITECH has announced that the Gasmet Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS II e) and the portable (DX4000) FTIR analysers have been awarded an MCERTS certificate demonstrating compliance with the MCERTS Performance Standards defined in EN 14181. The certificate demonstrates enhanced performance across an extended range of gases.

BUNTING MAGNETICS EUROPE, a leading supplier of magnetic separators and metal detectors, reports it has secured its largest single export order from a German processing plant designer and builder - the record order is to manufacture and supply 63, high-strength, Rare Earth Plate Magnets, which will be installed in a tobacco manufacturing operation in Indonesia.

When the directors of panel builders Pneumatechnique were looking at ways to improve efficiency and offer better production consistency they turned to RITTAL and its automation systems for switchgear construction. One of the main issues the company faced was the underemployment of the highly skilled labour force. This had become obvious during an evaluation of work practices that considered how customer demand was being met, and how the company in turn made demands on production as an “internal customer”.

SANDVIK has announced it will be launching Sanmac 3G at IMTS in Chicago in September, offering a stainless steel material which can significantly increase machining rates. HERAEUS NOBLELIGHT says recent extensive tests in its Applications Centre have demonstrated that the tempering of glass, heat-formed packaging products used in the medical and pharmaceutical sectors is five times faster and significantly more energy efficient with the new MAX oven than tempering carried out using conventional electric heating techniques.

MICHELL INSTRUMENTS says its new HygroSmart HS3 probe has been designed to withstand the kind of harsh and demanding conditions found in industrial processes. The company says unlike many ‘disposable’ probes that have a short life within harsh conditions before needing to be replaced, the HygroSmart HS3 sensor uses Michell’s polymer tile to give long-term reliable measurements

CARLO GAVAZZI says due to a continuous increase in sales beyond Europe with the popular RSBT 45mm series of soft starts and to ensure it supports its customers who export into the Asian market place it has now obtained CCC approval. The company says the benefit of this approval allows customers to freely engage with the huge potential of the Chinese market ensuring any imports into China are problem free in customs.

MICHELL INSTRUMENTS says the HygroCal100 is a lightweight, portable humidity verifier, which uses its reliable internal polymer reference to provide automatic verifications of the accuracy of RH probes. However the HygroCal100 interface enables users to assign any hygrometer with an analogue output as a reference device – such as a chilled mirror hygrometer.
