ABB reports it has expanded its family of small robots with the addition of the IRB 1200. Featuring a compact design, the IRB1200 is primarily aimed at materials handling and machine tending applications demanding flexibility, ease of use, compactness and short cycle times while still maintaining large working envelopes.

SMITH FLOW CONTROL (SFC) has designed a specialist pigging panel to be installed on an FPSO built for use in the Goliat field, the first oilfield to be developed in the Barents Sea.

Process plant manufacturer, JACQUET WESTON ENGINEERING, has announced the completion of an installation of a new electro-chemical stripping cell which is now said to be providing significant benefits for specialist valve manufacturer, BEL Valves. The company says the facility, at the Newcastle upon Tyne premises, is playing a dual role – both as part of the ongoing manufacturing process and also as a highly effective element at the heart of the company’s servicing procedures.

RED LION CONTROLS, experts in communication, monitoring and control for industrial automation and networking, has announced the addition of the N-Tronseries Gigabit 1000-POE+ Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) injectors to its industrial networking solutions portfolio. Red Lion’s new injectors are said to deliver both power and data over a single Ethernet cable to any PoE+ or PoE-enabled device, eliminating the need for additional power cables.

LASER LINES has announced it will be exhibiting at the Northern Manufacturing exhibition - stand number E68 and says not just one type of industrial laser system but a wide range of laser technologies will be on show.

HBM reports it has launched upgraded versions of its U9C and C9C miniature force transducers that are said to be individually configurable and offer high measurement accuracy making them suitable for many different applications. These range from dynamic tests and production tasks through to static testing of many different types of equipment such as determining the contact forces in ultrasonic welding, the calibration of hardness testing machines and testing Bowden cables.

Universal Heat Transfer Ltd (UHT) of Atherston, Warwicks, is a heat exchange and transfer specialist, supplying equipment and services to industry. One of its latest projects involved the manufacture of header boxes and channel heads for the refurbishment of four hydrogen coolers for a power station generator cooling system.

Heat transfer specialist FULTON reports it has supplied a skid-mounted, dual-fuel-fired steam boiler package to Southmead Hospital for a £430 redevelopment project. Steam from the skid-mounted package, which features two Fulton 60J boilers plus ancillaries, is used during the washing and sterilising of surgical equipment at the hospital’s temporary central sterile supply department (CSSD).

The energy-intensive process of creating one of Scotland's finest malt whiskies is reportedly being made more efficient thanks to the installation of a new WELLMAN boiler system.

QUANTITECH has announced that the Sick 3006 portable VOC monitor has a new MCERTS certificate, valid to July 2019. The company’s Dominic Duggan says: “This is important news for any process that needs to report total hydrocarbon emissions data; MCERTS is essential for monitoring Part A processes, however, as a portable instrument, the 3006 is also ideal for Part B processes and stack testers in a wide range of industries.”

After an in-depth evaluation of the Hydra-Cell T-Series pumps range, WANNER INTERNATIONAL is now able to offer three Hydra-Cell pump models that comply with API 674, 3rd Edition December 2010, the standard that covers the minimum requirements for reciprocating positive displacement pumps for use in service in the petroleum, chemical, and gas industries. 

Swindon based combustion equipment manufacturer, G P BURNERS, reports it is now offering an optional touch screen interface. The company says the TSI5000 touch screen is available with all of its new PLC controlled burners and may be retrofitted to existing equipment with PLC controls. It has been designed to simplify burner operation and assist engineers in maintenance and service regimes.

Nature Group, a market leader in handling MARPOL (marine pollution) waste streams and offshore waste from the oil industry, has installed a BABCOCK WANSON HEB 420 hot water boiler into one of its newest overseas treatment facilities, which is designed to treat oil contaminated wastewater.

MICHELL INSTRUMENTS reports a key energy company in Germany has chosen its Promet I.S. process moisture analyser to monitor moisture levels in bio-methane before it is injected into the grid to ensure that it meets the correct quality standards.

WANNER INTERNATIONAL reports that in response to customer requests and following extensive testing, Hydra-Cell G35 high pressure, diaphragm pumps are now rated to 100 bar pressure. Conventionally the G35 has been rated with a maximum pressure of 83 bar and a maximum flow rate of 140 litres per minute.

WORTHINGTON CREYSSENSAC says when customers need compressed air that is guaranteed totally pure, with no possibility of oil carry-over to contaminate the product, the only safe option is a genuine oil-free machine.

MICHELL INSTRUMENTS says its XTC601 binary gas analyser ensures accurate control of levels of hydrogen in heat treatment furnaces during production of metal. WANNER INTERNATIONAL has introduced two new Hydra-Cell Dosing Performance Pump ranges with mechanical flow rate adjustment.The company says because seal-less Hydra-Cell pumps are true positive displacement pumps, flow rate is directly proportionate to input shaft speed and virtually independent of system discharge pressures. Very precise, infinite adjustment of shaft speed is achieved through a simple manual adjust hand wheel.

HPC KAESER has introduced its new ASK Series, said to be compact and refined, but with significantly more power than comparable products, the company reports its new generation ASK Series Rotary Screw Compressors made their market debut in the spring. The company says these innovative compressors not only deliver more compressed air with more savings, but also impress with their user-and-service-friendly design.

 MICHELL INSTRUMENTS has announced the launch of the latest  addition to its Easidew range of dew-point transmitters: the Easidew PRO XP. Michell says this explosion-proof moisture transmitter has been  introduced to meet the requirements of markets where explosion-proof or flame-proof rather than intrinsically-safe certification is needed.

Industrial process heating specialist BABCOCK WANSONUKhas announced a new thermal fluid heating system rental service.  The company says this new rental service, which can provide up to 900kW of energy to a process, will enable customers to trial a thermal fluid heater for a fixed time at a fixed rental price.

ENDRESS+HAUSER has announced it has achieved MCERTS certification for its CM44x analytical transmitter and associated CPS11D pH electrode. The award follows both laboratory testing and a field test on the effluent from a wastewater treatment works.

MICHELL INSTRUMENTS says the S8000 hygrometer’s accuracy at very low temperatures (below -80°C dp) is due to a new measurement system which it calls ‘RRS’. RRS is a sophisticated technique that detects very small changes in moisture condensed on the chilled mirror surface.

Highland Biosciences Ltd, creator of leading edge diagnostics technologies, has partnered with PRECISION MICRO in the development and manufacture of a miniaturised ‘tuning fork’ biosensor.

The XZR200 Oxygen Analyser from MICHELL INSTRUMENTS offers users added peace of mind with a built-in early warning system that alerts operators of any faults with the unit. A 3.3 V DC logic output acts as a ‘heartbeat’ and enables operators to check on the health of the sensor preventing incorrect measurements. KISTLER INSTRUMENTS says its new NCFB electro-mechanical joining modules have been value engineered to provide a cost effective solution to many assembly and joining processes. Two versions of the new design are available, each with two measuring ranges. The smaller version has measuring ranges of 5 and 15 kN with 200 mm stroke at a speed of 250 mm/s and the larger version has ranges of 25 and 50 kN with a 400 mm stroke length at 150 mm/s. The Essex-based process cooling specialist, ISOCOOL, has provided a turnkey solution to Neproplast, a plastic extrusion company which is part of the IKK Group, a large construction group in the Middle East.

SPIRAX SARCO reports it has launched the industry’s most comprehensive range of desuperheaters for precise control and efficient heat transfer when cooling superheated steam. Featuring a high turndown of up to 50:1, the desuperheaters are said to be suitable for a wide range of applications and increase process efficiency by allowing waste and residual heat to be recovered and recycled. They can also protect process plant from damage caused by overheating.

“Ultra Boost”, a project, partially funded by the Technology Strategy Board, is aiming to develop a supercharged petrol engine with the same power output and only 35% of the exhaust emissions as a current 5L V8 engine but only of half the size.
