Short wave infra-red emitters from HERAEUS NOBLELIGHT have allowed Mettis Aerospace to reduce the time required for the heating of tools and dies used in the manufacture of high specification titanium aircraft components to one seventh of the heating times required by a previous gas system. This has provided significant energy savings and improved controllability, as well as improved forging practices at the company’s Redditch site.

This year’s SPS/IPC/Drives exhibition, FSG (hall 4A, stand 201) will focus on measuring and sensor technology for crane systems which must fulfill high requirements on precision and durability. Amongst other components, FSG FERNSTEUERGERAETE

CERTUSS reports all its steam generators are type tested according to European Pressure Equipment Guideline DGRL 97/23/EG. Certuss offers seven construction groups within its range of fossil fuel generators with outputs ranging from 80kg/hr to 2000kg/hr and operating pressures of up to 32 Bar G. To accompany the generator, Certuss also offers its CVE Package Plant Module, where all of the associated ancillary items are pre-piped, pre-wired and factory tested.

RED LION CONTROLS a global expert in communication, monitoring and control for industrial automation and networking, has announced a new EtherTRAK-2 I/O module (E2-MIX20884-D) and enhanced firmware for its Sixnet series RTUs. Red Lion’s new Sixnet EtherTRAK-2I/O module is said to be ideal for both distributed and local I/O applications that require a high density of mixed I/O types.

FULTON reports its FB range of rugged, robust and reliable horizontal firetube boilers can be configured for gas, oil or dual-fuel installations and for either steam or hot water applications. The eight boilers in the range include two FB-S models with outputs of 4,699 kg/h and 6,266 kg/h and operating pressures of 12.8 barg, and six FB-C models with steam outputs from 7,810 kg/h to 25,000 kg/h at 10.34 barg. All models can deliver up to 20 barg on demand.

In 2011, CLEARWATER CONTROLS – a division of ID Systems (UK), Scottish Water’s Supplier of the Year – patented a new cost-effective solution to the widespread problem of wastewater pump blockages.

Drake Extrusion, a leading European manufacturer of polypropylene fibres and yarns, has installed two new BABCOCK WANSON TPC1000B Thermal Fluid Heaters in its Huddersfield plant.

With an operating temperature range from -54°C to 165°C, the Type 8766A miniature triaxial accelerometers from KISTLER INSTRUMENTS are said to be ideal for use in harsh environments such as automotive engine bay and under vehicle measurements, aerospace subsystem vibration testing and industrial quality control applications.

Pumping shear sensitive materials can be problematical. Shear helps non-Newtonian fluids flow but too much shear can cause temporary or even irrevocable damage. Hydra-Cell diaphragm pumps from WANNER INTERNATIONAL are claimed to impose only low levels of tangential stress on the pumped fluid making them ideal for pumping a wide range of shear sensitive materials.

Transferring liquids from small drums and buckets using hand-operated, manual pumps can be a time-consuming and messy process, even if correct procedures are followed. An easier, safer and more efficient method is said to be by using light and compact motor driven drum pumps like Finish Thompson EF Series drum pumps.

ALL DRIVES & CONTROLS has introduced the new Unitronics EXF-RC15. The EXF-RC15 digital, high-speed IO module adds an elevated level of flexibility to the Unitronics PLC + HMI product lines, including the new Unistream range.

SCHENCK PROCESS reports it has successfully completed the refurbishment of key process equipment at the Proctor and Gamble site in London to ensure the efficient running of the plant. The work was carried out in the purpose made Refurbishment Cell at the Schenck Process’ factory near Doncaster and caused minimal disruption to the client’s operations.

Hydraulics specialist R+L HYDRAULICS GmbH is offering a system for reducing hydraulic equipment noise emissions. Consisting of a textile shrouding for hydraulic unit bell housings, the patented NRS system can reduce the total acoustic power output by up to 50%.

Pressure relief specialist ELFAB has been awarded ISO/TS 29001:2010 approval for its quality management system. Elfab reports it is the first rupture disc manufacturer to satisfy the third edition of technical specification ISO/TS 29001, developed specifically for the petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas industries.

Staff and visitors at the newly built Portway Lifestyle Centre in the West Midlands will benefit from a low carbon heating and hot water system from MHS BOILERS, which is expected to contribute to a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating.

MICHELL INSTRUMENTS is helping to increase the number of healthy chicks hatched in farms across Europe with its I7000 Hygrosmart temperature and relative humidity sensors.

The ESAB range of consumables for civil and industrial steel pipeline welding includes products that cover all the special materials and welding processes that may be required. These high productivity consumables are designed for the widely used manual welding process, but also cater for semi-automatic and fully automatic welding applications that are being more widely adopted, particularly on long pipeline routes.
