Heavy duty grinders

MAKITA says its angle grinders are recognised as rugged, hardworking machines serving many areas of industry including steel work, construction and heavy duty plant maintenance. The company says now a new generation of six 180mm and 230mm mains powered grinders has been launched, bristling with a host of new features and proven technology. Makita says all are powered by a new, heavy duty 2,000 watt motor specified for tough industrial operation and a new design of rear D-shaped handle protects operator’s hands from contact with the material surface and a new design of side handle provides more comfort and greater machine control.
The new Makita 180mm models will run up to 8,500 rpm and operate a 6.5mm maximum wheel grinding thickness.

MAKITA reports it has introduced additional mains powered grinders to its range offering many features and benefits for the operator. There are various models in the 115mm and 125mm range all of which feature a new design of slim-line machine body. The company says this provides the best possible ergonomic grip around the barrel which has a perfect circumference and shape, and allows convenient and comfortable grip for best possible comfort and machine control. All models feature the new design of wheel cover which can be moved to any desired position for protection whilst the grinding wheel is exposed for work. The wheel cover position can be altered without the need for tools. The spindle lock button is conveniently placed on top of the transmission housing.
Cleaner steels by OVAKO are said to be opening up new design opportunities and extending service life for high performance parts. Ovako says today, more than ever, high performance components are expected to withstand higher loads over longer periods of time and the company says its clean steels can facilitate significant opportunities to rethink design solutions for improved safety, time and cost savings in a range of applications.
RITTAL says its RiLine60, a fully shielded flexible busbar system with a wide range of busbar adaptors, has been extended to include a new OM adaptor ideally suited for the control panel manufacturer. Rittal says by combining contemporary design and outstanding safety technology, with easy design and speedy installation, the RiLine60 offers a safe method of distributing power within cabinets.
MAKITA has introduced two heavy duty cordless angle grinders to its industrial range powered by twin 18v batteries to give 36v power to the brushless, high performance motor and says these new cordless grinders deliver remarkable mains machine type performance with the added benefit of total manoeuvrability.
