High pressure steam traps

Published:  21 July, 2007

New TD62LM and TD62M thermodynamic steam traps from Spirax Sarco feature replaceable seats, allowing them to be maintained inline. Aimed at heavy industries such as power generation, oil, gas and petrochemicals, the traps are rated up to 62 bar g.

Such traps are typically welded in place to cope with the high pressures. Maintenance that can be done without removing the traps from the pipeline saves considerable maintenance time and costs.

The traps are aimed at medium - and high-pressure distribution lines carrying either saturated or superheated steam. The TD62LM is designed for relatively low rates of condensate removal, while the TD62M extends the capacity of the range.

Both versions feature an integral insulating cover as standard to prevent the traps being influenced by low ambient temperatures, wind or rain.

For screwed or socket weld versions of TD62LM or TD62M, an optional blowdown/depressurisation valve can also be supplied to make maintenance even easier by eliminating the need to isolate the entire line.

The TD62LM and TD62M are available in sizes ½”(DN15), ¾”(DN20) and 1”(DN25), with screwed NPT, socket weld, flanged ANSI 300 and 600, JIS/KS40K and PN100 fittings. The range complies fully with the requirements of the European Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC for use on Group 2 fluids (steam, air, and water).
