Expanded product range

weger_air_solutions.jpgWEGER AIR SOLUTIONS UK reports it has expanded its product range with the introduction of 5 models of heat pump to air heat recovery units. All of the units are ‘stand alone’ and only need electrical power, so are said to be ideal for applications where hot water, chilled water and gas are not available.

Very high efficiency levels can be achieved as there are 2 forms of sequential heat recovery – the integral heat pump system and either plate recuperators or thermal wheels. They are said to be well suited to achieve the higher demands of Government and clients to reduce energy consumption.

All 5 models use an integral refrigeration system (R410A), using hermetic scroll compressors, inverter controlled.

  • All round performer 

    WEGER AIR SOLUTIONS UK says its ‘RFM’ range of ventilation heat recovery units with integral heat pumps offers designers a unique solution to an age old problem. There are six sizes in the range with air flow rates of 0.25 mᶟ/s to 1.11 mᶟ/s . Each unit consists of supply and exhaust air fans, a plate recuperator for air to air heat recovery and a heat pump refrigeration system, using a scroll hermetic compressor (R410A) with evaporator and condenser coils.

    Boulting Technology helped to upgrade Thames Water’s 90 year old Littleton raw water pump station. The water company wanted to increase the performance of the site, while also making it more flexible, reliable and energy efficient. It also wanted to implement an automated system that would speed up pump start-up procedure. Thames water wanted all this without losing any of the pump station’s 1920’s charm! PWE reports.

  • Investing in innovation 

    Technical plastic moulder A K Industries (AKI) of Hereford has been working with the product innovation facilitator Pera to research and develop the Lowheat industrial and commercial heat recovery unit with EU funding. This has been a consortium project delivered in the form of a "pre-competitive, proof-of-principle prototype” by the Mechatronics team within the UK Intelligent Systems Research Institute (www.uk-isri.org), part of the Pera Innovation Network. The patent is pending, with the intellectual property currently in the name of the CIPHE (visit www.lowheat.iphe.org.uk). PWE reports.

  • Compressor delivers 46% less energy consumption 

    Birmingham-based Armac Martin, a leader in design-led luxury brass hardware and accessories, relies heavily on compressed air for its CNC machining requirements. However, the company’s existing system was constantly operating at full capacity, leading to unnecessary energy expenditure. By collaborating with FPS Compressors and its preferred local distributor Compressed Air Systems UK - Birmingham, Armac Martin adopted a new system capable of variable compressed air supply. The project led to an impressive 46% reduction in energy consumption compared with the company’s previous compressor.
