An economic survey commissioned by the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK), highlights how German manufacturers view the shortage of skilled labour as their main business risk, since it means having to turn down new orders, postpone investment in new technologies and cope with the related wage hikes.By 2030, the economic research and consulting firm Prognos is forecasting a skilled labor shortage of approx. three million people.

New research commissioned by Dr. Martens, in collaboration with On The Tools, has revealed the stress that UK trade workers face when breaking in new work boots; a fundamental piece of kit for the industrial workforce. According to the study, 63% claim it can take up to one week for work boots to be properly broken in and ready to use, resulting in extremely painful and potentially dangerous consequences.
