Free Asbestos training

Asbestos has been identified as a major risk to health and over 5000 people a year die in the UK from exposure to its fibres. It is estimated that over 4.4 million buildings contain asbestos and 1.8 million workers will be exposed to above normal concentrations in their day-to-day work.
In November 2006 the Control of Asbestos Regulations became law and with them came some important changes from previous legislation. One of the most significant of these was to create a 'minimum awareness' for all staff that supervise employees that can or do come into contact with asbestos containing materials (ACMs). That is to say that all such staff must now be adequately trained in a number of subjects that includes;
- The properties of asbestos and its effects on health.
- The purpose, choice, limitations, proper use and maintenance of respiratory equipment;
- Waste handling procedures;
- Decontamination procedures.
AMS Management GB LLP (AMS) has just launched a new Asbestos Awareness Training (AAT) session and in order to promote this service we are offering a free session to qualifying managers or directors (managers will need to have budget responsibility within a company with at least 100 employees). AMS Asbestos Awareness Training takes the form of 90-minute lectures that are held at AMS offices in Tonbridge, Kent. Attendees are taught about the 11 subjects outlined in the Control of Asbestos Regulations Section 10. At the end of the session all attendees will be issued with an attendance certificate.
