IEN and Drives & Control Exhibition 2016 announce series of panel seminars to support future industrialists.

Published:  12 February, 2016

The Industry Entrepreneurship Network (IEN) is to form three panels for seminar sessions at the Drives & Controls Exhibition (12-14th April 2016), at the NEC in Birmingham (Halls 3/3A).

The three sessions will cover the topics of ‘Blended Education’, ‘Entrepreneurship in Industry’ and ‘The Economics of Manufacturing’ with panels formed from the network’s membership of established entrepreneurs, industrial companies and leading UK trade, science, education and engineering organisations.

Speaking on behalf of the network and one of its founder sponsors industrial and innovation marketing specialists Cadence Innovation Marketing, Dan Doherty said: “We’re thrilled to be announcing the first opportunity for this broad and talented group of individuals and organisations to show how they can practically support and offer value to the future industrialists of the UK”.

Doherty, himself the founder of the Guild of Entrepreneurs, also called upon industry to come together to help rebalance the UK economy by supporting entrepreneurship, “it’s by raising the profile of the good work being done around STEM education issues and equality in the workplace, as well as updating the image of UK manufacturing and highlighting the work of our leading industrial brands that we can really rejuvenate this vital part of our economy”.

Drives & Controls Exhibition organiser, DFA Media commented on the seminar panels: “Global initiatives and the technological paradigm shift associated with the Industrial Internet of Things, shows that there is a growing opportunity for industry to take advantage of the creativity and entrepreneurial nature of UK companies. Our seminar programme fully reflects that and will provide a fascinating insight into the workings of the sector”.

The network, which was formed following an award-winning summit about Industrial Entrepreneurship during GEW 2014, is also supported by global industrial automation company Rockwell Automation and features founder members from organisations including, among many others; Primary Engineer; Gambica; IMechE and the EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation. The Industry Entrepreneurship Network has local meetings scheduled throughout the country in 2016 and other initiatives featuring inputs from its unique membership to be announced shortly.
